In an ever-evolving world, the way we present ourselves often reflects the core of our mission and the audience we seek to reach. As such, we found it pertinent to evolve our brand name from "Cottage" to "Public Grid" to represent our mission more adequately and to align with our expanded vision.
When looking at something as complex as an electricity grid that spans over 5 million miles (thats enough cable to warp around the earth about 200 times) of cables and provides electricity to over 350 Million people, we think it's helpful to use scaled down analogies.
When energy from renewable sources like solar panels or wind turbines is generated, it gets injected into the grid just like energy from traditional sources. This is achieved through interconnected substations and transmission lines. BUT this is where things get a bit complicated.
